Concept of MBR biomembrane?

MBR biomembrane technology is an abbreviation of the phrase Membrane Bioreactor. It is generally understood as a combination of microorganisms in suspended activated sludge tanks and hollow fiber membrane technology in wastewater treatment. The sludge content in the biological tank will be retained through the membrane’s microfiltration mechanism, thanks to its small size (µm), so the wastewater after leaving the membrane has very good quality.

Operating principle of MBR biomembrane

  • MBR biofilm is placed in Aerotank suspended aerobic biological tank
  • Wastewater is permeated through the filter membrane into the capillary tube thanks to microfilters with very small sizes from (0.01 ~ 0.2 µm), allowing only clean water to pass through, retaining mud, inorganic and organic solids, and microorganisms on the membrane surface.
  • The pen pump system will draw water from the capillary tube to the clean water tank, the suction pump is set to run for 10 minutes, then stop for 1-2 minutes depending on the calibration level.
  • When the pressure in the membrane exceeds the normal pressure of 50kpa (from 10 – 30 kpa), the suction pump system will stop working, and at the same time activate the backwash pump to wash the membrane to ensure that the MBR biomembrane is not clogged.
