Application of ROCHEM RO membrane technology for leachate and industrial wastewater treatment at a waste treatment plant in southern Vietnam

1. Why did we choose ROCHEM RO membrane for this project?

The wastewater at the plant is a type of wastewater that is difficult to treat, including leachate and industrial wastewater. Although it has been treated through many chemical, physical and microbiological stages, the concentration of substances still does not meet the standards for discharge into the environment.

The factory has been in operation for many years, so the tank system and areas are almost stable, it is difficult to have a large area to install a thorough water treatment system

Therefore, with the advantages of small installation area as well as outstanding features and treatment efficiency, we have chosen RO ROCHEM membrane technology to treat wastewater at this factory.

2. Construction and completion process of RO ROCHEM water treatment system

In the early days, the project went smoothly as follows:

Materials and equipment arrived on schedule

With the participation of foreign experts

Stable personnel throughout the construction process

With great support from the customer’s technicians at the factory, we were convenient in construction, installation, piping, etc.

When the project was completed and put into operation, we encountered difficulties. The capacity increased more than the original commitment. However, our design allowed for that. The first difficulty was considered resolved when our technicians simply adjusted the input parameters for the system.

Another problem during operation is that the COD concentration in the water is not stable. COD in wastewater increases very high every day. This causes the system, although having a safety factor for the concentration of substances, to exceed the allowable limit.

With experience in treating the most difficult wastewater, we have handled all the problems in the system and put the system into stable operation, handing it over to the factory.

3. Results of treating industrial and leachate with ROCHEM RO membrane technology

The wastewater source is treated stably, without stopping the water treatment process

The treated water meets the standard of column A – QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT. Results of an independent testing unit (testing unit with Vilas certificate)

The treated water is used by the factory to wash garbage trucks. In addition, it is also used to clean public areas and water trees and green areas.
